Alex Polenberg

Welcome.

I am an applied mathematician, having recently graduated from the University of Iowa. My graduate research fell under the broader umbrella of mathematical biology, but I focused primarily on statistics, data analysis/machine learning, and mathematical modeling. I worked under the supervision of Dr. Colleen Mitchell on a variety of projects in this space, ultimately culminating in my thesis, which entailed the identification and isolation of novel genes associated with heart disease in Doberman Pinschers. Currently, I am leveraging my skills and knowledge as a data analytics consultant at Avalon AI.

You can read more about some of my side projects, research, and current publications below. Additionally, my resume is available at the bottom of this page.

Research

I have three manuscripts currently in progress that I plan to include here for reference. The first, my doctoral thesis, will be included in the coming weeks once the final submission is approved. I am also preparing a similar paper for publication based on work funded by the Doberman Pinscher Club of America's seed grant. The last, on which I am a co-author, focuses on mitochondrial fission and fusion dynamics and will be added once available.
